Although the island isn’t very big – you can get from one end to the other in less than 2 hours – there’s an awful lot to see on Lanzarote. To help you find your way around, see what’s essential and plan your itinerary from day to day, I’ve created this map of Lanzarote, which brings together all the information you need.
As you’ll see, the idea behind this map is to make it practical and easy to find. That’s why I’ve included the essentials for each item (price, photo…).
But above all, this map is made on Google Maps via a layer system. You can deactivate what you want, remove accommodations, keep only tours, remove sports activities for example, to get more visibility.
Anyway, I’ll explain it all in detail 🙂
Presentation of the Lanzarote map
In concrete terms, here’s what you’ll find on this map:
- the 20 must-see places
- the viewpoints, Cesar Manrique’s creations and the Timanfaya volcanoes in particular.
- Lanzarote’s most beautiful beaches
- Lanzarote is not renowned for its beaches like Fuerteventura or Gran Canaria, for example, but there are some very pretty ones. From large, wide beaches next to seaside resorts to small, secluded coves, I’ll show you everything.
- The different towns
- There are big seaside resorts like Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca, but also pretty little places like Teguise, Uga and Tenesar. There’s something for everyone!
- Things to do on the island
- Visiting a vineyard (with wine tasting, of course), surfing on the famous Famara beach or paragliding from the cliffs, I’ll tell you all about it!
- The best walks
- You can climb craters or wander through lava fields as far as the eye can see. Here are a few suggestions
- Essential information
- Bus routes, car rentals, finding your plane ticket, getting to the airport – I’ve got all that covered too!
- Over 30 quality ACCOMMODATIONS on the island
- As the range of accommodation on Lanzarote is huge, I’ve made a small selection for you. From charming little houses to inexpensive fincas and all-inclusives, there’s something for everyone, and best of all, it’s all top-rated!
- Agencies and tours to visit the island
- Because not everyone can drive, there are a number of agencies offering tours of the island’s main attractions. I’ve listed a number of them here, along with their programs, which are quite interesting and not particularly expensive!
- La Graciosa
- I’m also adding information about the fabulous Graciosa Island
How to use the Google Map of Lanzarote
Well, it’s pretty straightforward. First of all, you need to know that this map is organized in layers.
A layer is a set of points of interest, which I’ve grouped thematically, i.e. the most beautiful places are grouped together, as are hikes, accommodation and so on. Why do I do this? Because it allows you to deactivate layers one by one. In other words, if you’re not interested in the activities, or only want to see the hikes, you can hide the others by unchecking the corresponding boxes (see example just below, it’s super simple).
By clicking on each point of interest, you have access to all the details you need for the visit. Info, timetables, links, reservations.
Bus maps to visit Lanzarote
On the Arrecife Bus website, you can access all the bus routes, and for each route you’ll find a map with the various stops. And you’ve also got the app, which is really useful.
The best road maps of Lanzarote
If you prefer paper to digital, you’ve got 2 great options. Of course, there’s the famous Michelin map, which covers all the Canary Islands very effectively. But there’s also a German map by Freytag & Berndt, which focuses on Lanzarote.
- The Michelin Canary Islands map, 1.150.000
- The Freytag & Berndt map of Lanzarote, 1.75 000
